Only 295 days until First Night!
2010 Button Design ContestWinner is LaJissa Hansen!![]() First Night Council Bluffs, the annual December 31 celebration of community, the New Year and the arts, has issued a call for artists to design the logo for this year's event. The logo, which is unique to each year, will be used to promote the event, including posters, fliers, the website, and the commemorative buttons, which are also the tickets of admission for First Night participants. "The theme for this year's event is "Celebration of Hope," which should encourage many unique interpretations and designs," said First Night Co-Chair Inky Westfall. "Initial idea behind the theme was following President Obama's message of Hope, being positive and looking forward to the future, but we wanted to focuse on celebrating the future, this theme is truly wide open for the artist's interpretation." The button created from the design had flashing lights that lit up the streets and venues and participants took part in activities. "The logo is to the development of First Night," said Chair Inky Westfall. "It becomes the brand everyone associates with the event, and has a tremendous amount of visibility." This year we had 5 artists enter the button design contest and they are;Carrie Hansen, Nichole Crockett, LaJissa Hansen, Max Petersen and Cindy Mathiasen. It was a difficult decision for the committees to make, as we loved all of the designs presented to us. We believe all of them are winners and would like to thank all of the artists for their entries, and we are looking forward to seeing more of their work in the future.
