Button Design Winner Announced

First Night is excited to announce the button design winner for 2011's event which is themed "Artists Among Us." This year's button design comes from one of the metro area artists, Taylor Burkum. His design will be used to create buttons that will serve as tickets of admission for participants in the fourth Annual First Night Council Bluffs activities, which will take December 31, 2010.

"With the theme of Artists Among Us it is fitting that one of our area artists, who has performed at previous First Night events, be chosen this year," said First Night Co-Chair Inky Westfall. "Taylor is a wonderful artist and we are excited to chose his artwork for this year's button design."
"The button design is integral to the development of First Night," said Co-Chair Geoff Hubbard. "It becomes the brand everyone associates with the event, and has a tremendous amount of visibility."

Calling all artists, on December 31, 2010, the Council Bluffs community will join together for the fourth annual First Night^® celebration of art and culture. Performing artists from across the region are encouraged to submit applications to participate in this unique evening. Download the application and letter below.

We had a wonderful and memorable time performing at the First Baptist Fellowship Hall on New Years Eve. Thank you very much for having us! The bottom line is--nothing could have been improved upon. We were treated very nicely and each person we talked to was friendly and very helpful. Also--we thought the Honey Creek Jazz band was a good band to share the stage with. We felt the two groups complimented each other very nicely, and we enjoyed meeting them and listening to their music. Thanks again, Bob and Kristie Black

The library was a most enjoyable place to perform. The staff was very helpful, the acoustics were wonderful, and (best of all) the audiences really enjoyed our music. We're looking forward to future First Night events. Thank you, Pat McFarland
